  PRODUCT
  • ALFANIT ( LIQUID NITRIDING )
ALFANT is a Liquid Nitriding or Nitrocarburising and surface hardening process used on fully finished components and increase life of the ferrous components especially on engineering parts so that the warranty claims can be reduced.
ADVANTAGES :
• T HE WARRANTY CLAIMS CAN BE REDUCED • IMPROVES THE RESISTANCE TO   WEAR    SEIZURE    GALLING    FATIGUE    CORROSION ON STEELS, STAINLESS STEELS AND CAST IRON COMPONENTS • COMPONENTS WHICH REQUIRE SHALLOW CASE DEPTH BY CARBURISING, CARBONITRIDING ETC CAN BE CHANGED TO ALFANIT PROCESS. • COSTLY HIGH ALLOYED STEELS CAN BE REPLACED BY ALFANIT TREATED MILD STEEL OR    LOW ALLOYED STEEL. PROCESS & PROPERTIES. • ALFANIT IS THE LEAST POLLUTIVE NITROCARBURISING PROCESS AVAILABLE, AMONG THE    SALT BATH TECHNOLOGIES
  • KINTCOR ( CORROSION RESISTANCE )
PROCESS & PROPERTIES
KINTCOR process oxidies some of the nitrides formed on the surface of the ALFA NITROCABURISED components to a well knit type of sphinel oxides ( FeO + Fe3°4) KINTCOR  process can replace the plating processes like Hard  Chrome. Cd, Zn, Ni etc. The corrosion resistance obtainable is upto 300 hours as per ASTM B 117 and superior to those by plating protection like Zn, Cd, Cr, etc. KINTCOR process can be used to replace expensive alloy steel components meant for corrosion resistance. KINTCOR  treated components have a pleasing black colour.
The operating temperature of the bath is 42°- 43° C
TYPICAL APPLICATIONS
Some of the typical components are
— Switch gear components
— Lock parts
— Bearing cages
— Pins, Engine Valves
— Telescopic Cylinder for excavators
— Hydraulic jack rods
— Carburetor Components
— Shock Absorber rods
— Gas piston rod
  • HEAT TREATMENT OF METALS
Conventional Heat Treatment process of metals like
— Hardening & tempering
— Carburising
— Annealing
— Stress relieving
— Heat Treatment of Aluminium etc.
  • SALTS FOR HEAT TREATMENT
Salt baths have many advantages over other heat treatment processes, viz
  • Rapid rate of heat transfer in the salt bath gives higher output.
  • Uniform and accurate control of temperature can be available through
out the bath and the components.
The following Salts for various process of Heat Treatment are available with  us.
A. SALTS FOR CARBURISING
— ALFA CARB - I
       Salt for carburising with Working Range 760° C - 950° C
       ( ICI Equivalent - 'Rapicarb-H')
— ALFA CARB - II
Salt for carburising with Working Range 800° C- 950° C
       ( ICI Equivalent - 'Rapicarb-S')
B. NEUTRAL SALTS
— ALFA 660  Working Range  660° C- 900° C ( ICI Equivalent - 'NC 660')
ALFA 660 is used for hardening various tool steel, preheating high -         speed steels hot work Steels prior to hardening with ALFA 970. ALFA         660 is denser than ALFA 720, but less soluble in water. ALFA 660         does not decarburise the charge. The working range can be         increased uto 1000° C by covering the molten salt with ALFA.         ECONOMISER ( 225 gm for 100 Kg.)

— ALFA 720 Working Range  720° C - 900° C ( ICI Equivalent - 'WS  720')
ALFA 720 is salt which neither carburise nor decarburose the steel         and it readily dissolves in water.

— ALFA 830 Working Range  830° C - 1100° C ( ICI Equivalent - 'HT 830')
ALFA 830 along with ALFA ECONOMISER ( 130 gm per 100 Kg ) can         be used for hardening tool steel, hot working dies, high Cr steel etc. —  ALFA 830 can be
used safely in ceramic lined electric resistant furnace.
The floating ALFA ECONOMISER on the surface can be mixed by         stirring with a stirrer. The bath can be desluged for every 8 hours         and topped up with ALFA 830 and ALFA ECONOMISER in proportion.

— ALFA 970 Working Range  970° C - 1350° C ( ICI Equivalent - 'HS' 970')
ALFA 970 can be used to harden high - speed, hot working tool          steels etc.
ALFA 970 neither decarburise nor allow the formation of the scale          on the surface of the components
C.  SALTS FOR QUENCHING AND TEMPERING

— ALFA 540 Working Range 540° C - 700° C ( ICI Equivalent - QS 540 )
ALF 970 can be used for minimum distortion and less risk of cracks         than in oil quenching.

— ALFA 495 Working Range  495° C - 700° C ( ICI Equivalent - QS 495 )

— ALFA 330 Working Range  330° C - 535° C ( ICI Equivalent - TS 330 )
ALFA 330 can be used for the heat treatment of ALUMINIUM          ALLOYS.
After solutionsing in ALFA 30, the same can be precipitation          hardened in ALFA 150.

— ALFA ECONOMISER ( Refer above )

— ALFA 220 Working Range  220° C - 550° C ( ICI Equivalent - TS 220 )

— ALFA 150 Working Range  150° C - 550° C ( ICI Equivalent - TS 150 )
